The Da Vinci Code
i dun believe it, but in the midst of my busyness....still able to squeeze some time to finish reading the book "A Quest for answers: The Da Vinci Code" by Josh McDowell today.
Recently, there is this craze abouth The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, where there's a big hoo ha over whether Jesus was married with Mary Magdalene. Da Vinci Code claimed a few facts...and from those facts and so call documents deduced that Jesus was married to Mary. With this novel, it shook the whole world... seens it seems like juicy scandal material...those u see in tabloids... in regards to one of the world's largest religion.
Dan Brown's book claims that "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate. " However base on evidences, there are actually many many inaccuracies. ...Below is a very summarized version.
1) Priory of Sion is not an organization founded in 1099, but the only documents only said it existed before 1956, and has been exposed as hoaxes.
2) The Gnostic Gospels, which Dan Brown placed his evidences from, could not be cited as accurate evidences, because they were written more than 300 years ago aftern Christ, and that they were written by suspicious authors.
3) Constantine did not make Christianity the official religion. The edict of Milan in 313 simply declared Christian worship to be tolerated.
4) The early church was not anti-feminine. In fact, a lot of the bible accounts told about faithful women at work.
5) Jesus' establishment as "the Son of God" was not officially proposed and voted by the Council of Nicaea as what the book says. In fact, the 4 original gospels, written at least 200 yrs before the council, stated that.
6) The famous glass pyramid was constructed of exactly 673 panes of glass, not 666 as what the book said. So much for accuracy!
7) It was John, not Mary, that was painted in the Last Supper. Evidences show that Florentine artists traditionally depicted John as beardless.
8) Dan Brown claimed that there are tens of thousands of pages of documents proving that Jesus is married to Mary, but in fact, there is no such find.
In fact, there are more evidences to show that Dan Brown's novel is at most...er...FICTION... however...it is up to the reader to decide what to believe... a novel with inconsistencies, or the truth that is backed up by centuries of testing and research...what is your choice?
