What happens if CNY goes high-tech
Chinese New Year is a traditional festival, celebrated by more than a billion people each year. The procedures can be more of a hassle and redundant at times. Let's explore ways to improvise the process.
1) Problem: Giving of redpackets - Waste paper (red packet), not environmental friendly.
Solution: Let's go hightech. Money can be posted to different bank accounts via the internet or ATM machines.
2) Problem: Giving of mandarin oranges. Redundant process as net change of mandarin oranges is zero. (mandarin oranges are passed from guests to house-owners than from house owners back to guest)
Solution: Skip this process. If not, cut the oranges so that all may eat.
3) Problem: Mahjong playing, with creates so much noise. Shuffling of tiles is a hassle.
Solution: Put 4 laptops on the mahjong table instead. Playing can be done through online. Shuffling is done in a matter of seconds.
4) Problem: Home Visitation - Time is spent, petrol is consumed through much travelling (not cheap now)
Solution: Go online, to a chat room...the best part is that you can always block out relatives that you do not want to meet.
5) Problem: Lau Yu Sheng (Lohei). Messy during the mixing part. The outcome is usually wasted food on the table.
Solution: Put every ingredient into a fruit blender, and blend the food. Efficient with little wastage.
6) Problem: Recurrence of those old CNY songs that has been sung so often. Can be irritating after a while.
Solution: Can play other songs, such as National Day songs or Christmas songs as well.
Hmm... Future Problem Solving at its best.
