Back from China

Went to China on 20th-25th Dec. A really rewarding and eye-opening trip.

Took plane to a big city, waited at the airport, and then transit to another big city.
Next day, took a 2-hour train to a small town, while a friend picked us up to go to his village which was 3.5 hrs away.
Stayed in the village for 2 days. Super cold - Just 2 - 5 degrees above 0.
Visited and helped out neighbouring village.
On 24th, friend drove us back to small town, and took train back to big city.
On 25th, took plane to another big city, stuck in the airport for 6 hrs, and took plane back to S'pore. Reached home around 1 am.

Today, went to school from 8am - 2pm for a meeting. Super busy!

It really touched me during these few days in the village. In China, a typical village comprised of mainly the elderly (grandparents) and their grandchildren (< 15 yrs old), as most of the high school students, as well as the working adults, would be in bigger cities. Most of these grandparents really would be yearning to see their children come back during Chinese New Year, and also during harvest time to help in their harvesting. I

Also, the village people are really sweet people. Very simple, and treated me as their grandchildren. The food cooked was simple, yet full of love and sincerity. It is so different from the city life that we have. Looking forward to visit them soon.

School starts a few days time. Get ready to study!
