Post-exams

Congratulations to all my yr 1 and yr 2 students who have completed their exams. Enjoy your holidays!

Bon voyage to one of my student, Vardini, who is going back to India. All the best to wherever you go. You can still contact me by tagging onto this blog!

For fellow teachers in my school...press on! I know like me, they have nuclear piles of exam scripts to mark...for many, our weekends will be burnt, condemned to be at home staring at horrendous handwritings.... and after going through the baptism of papers, we have to key in the marks...prep for post-exam activities.... press on guys! Holidays is 3 weeks away :)

Time to share what happen to me yesterday and today:

Yesterday (A day to meet up with old friends)
Marked scripts till 5pm. Phew! Then went cityhall. In the mrt, met one university friend who is studying in NIE. Wow. glad he managed to survive in his practicum school... haha...now enjoying life in NIE before his final posting... really made me recall the feelings i have some 6 months ago...
Then reached cityhall... since I was early for my appointment, I decided to go to Funan, where I bumped into an NS friend. Wow. Glad to catch up with him, and that he has managed to find himself a job. Glad he is as cheerful and friendly as usual.
Then went to Sushi Teh in Raffles city. Met up with siblings and cousins for dinner, where one cousing treated us. Indeed, this was the only gathering we had since chinese new year... wow...people really got busy when they started to work! But we talked about the days of old...indeed the few of us always play together when we are little...from a fews yrs old till now...we grew up together (all of us almost of the same age) and went outings in primary, secondary school...etc... Now seeing that one by one, some of us will be getting married soon, we can really say that we have grown up. One cousin can even recall games that we play when we are just 6-7 yrs old!
Then after dinner, I bumped into another JC friend....
Wow it seems that the world (or singapore) is really so small.

This morning, went to school for invilgilation
Wow...shock of my life

My students: Brilliant in math (my pride and joy wat?)... but can't say for english leh...
One question: It goes something like this: Boy goes to shopping center and spend x min walking TO there. Then boy goes home and spend y min walking FROM the shopping center to home. A few sentences later, the question read, "Find the time the boy walks TO the shopping center." Halfway through the paper, one student raised his hand, "Do we find the time he walk to the shopping center or from?" I went up to him and point him the word "TO" from the question. A few minutes later another hand popped up and ask me the same question. And another. And another. In the end, about 4-5 students ask me the same question. Hello!!! Read the question lar... my english not so jialat right?

Of course, I am suprised at some of the questions they ask. Some are really good questions, and they are sharp in finding out details. Like one, he mentioned that my rectangle is not drawn to scale, which is true, although the length of the sides are still unknown. Really really sharp eyes. Keep those questions coming in. I enjoy answering them.

Anyway, can see my students beaming with signs of relief and happiness after the paper. Glad they are happy.

In the evening. Went down to church, where we prayed for people who are unwell. It seems that many people are falling sick this time of the year. Take care!
