Students with kites
Kites in the air
One of my students commented in the past. "Really hope the kite flying project be a success. If it doesn't turn out well...teachers will then comfort us by saying, 'Don't worry. It's not the end that matters, it's the PROCESS!' "
Well, of course, the question in mind is, "What is the definition of success?" If success is defined as "Students having fun" or "Students don't feel bored", then i feel that the meaning isn't far fetching. Suppose my definition of success lies in, "Students learning life long skills to work together" or "Students learn kite-flying skills, which would be a useful service learning skill", who knows, this event is a big success?
Come on, I was not lying. I really was part of a Service Learning team during NIE, that taught some less fortunate children kite making and kite flying. (That was in Nov 2005)
Of course....i felt that the overall celebrations were good. The hairdo idea was creative and fun! The captain's ball were fun (sad i fell from the chair and sprained my right hand). Kite flying were fantastic! (Some class took some time to get the kites flying...but the effect were cool (Can see from the posted photos.) However, I did feel the community sing-a-long could be better. Too feel people participated in the singing.
Overall, the event was enjoyable and memorable. Well done everyone!
