Happy Birthday Singapore!

Yeah... these few days came like a real break for all of us. Life was so hectic, that I promised not to touch any work for yesterday and today (dun care all the emails and work that I have to clear this weekend... there is always tomorrow.)
Yesterday, went to museum with some students in the morning. Some teachers actually asked why i went to museum with students... there were four teachers who went.

The first was the history teacher. So no choice....haha

The second one actually volunteered, coz he was a good mentor, and the history teacher asked for his help.

The third one is a math teacher who is interested in history as well.

Some other teachers asked, "Why you go?"

Hmm...a few reasons:

(1) nothing better to do in the morning of National day eve. Other schools celebrated in the morning, ours is the few which celebrated theirs in the evening. haha..so what to do? can't even go out with teacher friends from other schools in the morning.

(2) museum trip cost $10 if I go alone. Now it is free if I go with school.

(3) going with students are fun...at least 70 pple can entertain me if I am bored...haha.

(4) colleagues who go are nice.

(5) I love history - which is the only subject that I score better than math.

(6) I am patriotic. I want to know more about Singapore as well as heritage ...ahah :)

Hey, the trip really is not bad. Got to know how high tech the museum is now.

Anyway, took the school bus back to school, for NDP celebration as well as sports day.

NDP celebration at school very cool. Student initiated the have their very first ndp parade. very impressive (hey come on..it's the first year!) really good. Glad the uniform groups took initiative in it. Of course the combined student leaders contigent was excellent as well.

Teahers posing for camera taking.

Next was the school sports meet. Yeah.... it's good to see students run. Never expect the Year 1s to run so fast, especially the girls. Wah. Run here and there...not tired one. The event is well held. But I felt a pity that during the interval session, the year 1s were brave and spontaneous enough to put up an ndp say-a-long session, but the seniors are not responsive enough.

Nevertheless, that day was really an enjoyable day.

Evening time, rushed to the Indoor Stadium for a prayer meeting organized by Love Singapore. Thank God another colleague was able to fetch us there. Really, it is so good to pray for Singapore, alongside with 8000 other people who were there. God has blessed Singapore these 42 years. He has given us capable leaders as well as open doors for Singapore to grow to where it is now. I'm particular touched to see a short video of the history of church in Singapore ever since Raffles stepped on her shores. It reminded of our spiritual heritage as well (as compared to the cultural and national heritage that I've learnt in the morning)

This morning, went to AMK Hub. haha....glad to have gone. To me, AMK Hub is one of those places that I would hardly go to as a teacher coz firstly, it is not near my school. Secondly, it is not near my home. Thirdly it is not anywhere between my school and home. Anyway, wanted to go see Singapore's biggest Fairprice Outlet, the FairPrice Xtra. Haha...shopped around supermarkets is more fun then shopping around orchard. Got extra bored, so bought tickets to watch Rush Hour 3. Hey, the cinema is spacious. Not bad!

Rush hour 3

The show is funny. Nice for a few laughs. But as all Jackie Chan's movies, plot development functions primary to give more excuses for Jackie to fight. (In other words, it's pretty lame), and the show is sexually suggestive in some areas (er...not very suitable for our little friends ... right?) But overall, it's has its entertainment value.

Evening, rushed back home to watch NDP 2007 on TV. was pondering whether to go padang and watched the big screen. But well, it means squeezing with 100 000 other people. Haha... nope. preferred the comfort of my home.

NDP...ah... brings memories of the time where I was involved ... in NDP 1999 and 2000, when I was in the army. Was part of the marching contigent (representing the army). So whenever I seen people standing still at the parade (esp for more than 45 min), my heart felt for them (aiyoh, under hot sun...sighz).

This year's ndp quite amazing and radical. Really applaud for the participants for putting a great performance. Many applauses to the logistics team for setting up the stage. Really it's a national size project. The chinook hovering over the waters is a pretty sight. The singing of the NDP theme songs are so powerful! The kites are a pretty sight to watch. Undoubtly, these year's fireworks is the most ever. However, the story line based on "Earth, Fire, Water, Air" is so ... haha..can't comprehend it.

Thank God for blessing Singapore for these 42 years, so that we in turn can bless others!
